Unable to Change Shell access via WHM

You may be experienced the following errors while changing the shell access via WHM.

Shell could not be modifiedShell not modified due to error: Changing shell for #user#.
Shell *NOT* changed. Try again later.

Shell could not be modified

This error is happening because of a temporary password file “/etc/ptmp” exists on the server. The /etc/ptmp file is a lock denoting the /etc/passwd/ file is undergoing change. Don’t remove it unless you know that no one else is doing maintenance on the password file. Once you confirmed it you can fix this issue by simply deleting the file “/etc/ptmp”

rm -f /etc/ptmp

That’s it!
