Install Facebook Messenger App on Ubuntu
This tutorial help to install Facebook Messenger App on Ubuntu. Facebook Messenger is a very famous instant messaging service provided by Facebook. This is an unofficial chat client for Facebook Messenger. The installation steps are provided below:
Install the App according to your OS architecture. You can check the OS architecture using the following command.
getconf LONG_BIT
Also, check the new version by visiting the Official Website and all the available versions from GitHub Releases Page.
For Ubuntu 64 Bit
wget https://github.com/aluxian/Messenger-for-Desktop/releases/download/v2.0.9/messengerfordesktop-2.0.9-linux-amd64.deb sudo dpkg -i messengerfordesktop-2.0.9-linux-amd64.deb sudo apt install -f
For Ubuntu 32 Bit
wget https://github.com/aluxian/Messenger-for-Desktop/releases/download/v2.0.9/messengerfordesktop-2.0.9-linux-i386.deb sudo dpkg -i messengerfordesktop-2.0.9-linux-i386.deb sudo apt install -f
Once it is installed, search for Messenger for Desktop on Unity dash and start the application.
Uninstall Facebook Messenger App (Optional)
Uninstall Facebook Messenger App using the following command.
sudo apt remove messengerfordesktop
